Research
One of the pillars of TFP and Applied TFP is the pursuit of scientific evidence to validate the theory and treatment methods proposed for patients with personality disorders. In our Center, research is considered a fundamental area for obtaining empirical evidence and is directly linked to our Academic Department and the training of mental health professionals.
Currently, our research lines focus on longitudinal measurements of mental health professionals participating in our TFP Applied to Medical Settings training and our general Training programs. The objective is to understand how TFP training impacts the attitude of health professionals toward patients with Personality Disorders. We utilize questionnaires that measure professional attitude, confidence, and prescribing practices regarding this patient group. These questionnaires are administered before and at various points following the completion of the study program.
These studies are part of a global research initiative in collaboration with the International Society of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy and the ISTFP Applied TFP Committee, led by Principal Investigator Dr. Chiara de Panfilis, MD.
